This historic fort site, is featured in the Monmouthshire Lord Raglan Book Volume II... "A farmhouse name Cwrt -y-Gaer, a quarter of a mile to the west (of Wolvesnewton), is believed to be the site of their manor house or castle (a Norman family who were lords in the 13th century) and it possibly may have been built on the site of a more ancient dwelling situate as it is on a mound of about an acre and a half in size surrounded by a moat on the west and south supplied with water from a spring.
